Salisu said security operatives were initially overwhelmed by the superior number of attackers and were unable to repel the assault before reinforcement arrived.

He urged the federal and Zamfara state governments to review current security strategy and adopt proactive approach, including offensive operations against bandit strongholds, arguing that reactive posture has failed to curb the persistent violence in the state.

Local authorities and residents are still grappling with the devastating impact of the attack.

The Executive Chairman of Maradun Local Government Council, Sanusi Ahmed Dosara, described the incident as shocking, noting that security agencies were immediately alerted in an effort to prevent further loss of lives.
