Mai Mala Buni Governor of Yobe has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Mohammed Goje, acting secretary to the state government.

The new emir succeeds the late Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who died recently in Egypt after a prolonged illness and was buried in Damaturu.

Before his appointment, Yerima Ibn Mahmud held the traditional title of Turakin Ngazargamu, a position he occupied for 16 years.

He also served as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly and was, at different times, a member of the State Executive Council, including serving as Commissioner for Livestock Development.
