Mai Mala Buni Governor of Yobe has approved the appointment of Alhaji Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Mohammed Goje, acting secretary to the state government.

The new emir succeeds the late Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who died recently in Egypt after a prolonged illness and was buried in Damaturu.

Before his appointment, Yerima Ibn Mahmud held the traditional title of Turakin Ngazargamu, a position he occupied for 16 years.

He also served as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly and was, at different times, a member of the State Executive Council, including serving as Commissioner for Livestock Development.

Governor Buni congratulated the new emir and the people of the Ngazargamu Emirate, urging him to use his experience to promote unity, peace, and development.

He also called on residents of the emirate to support the new monarch in carrying out his responsibilities for the progress of the area and the state.
