Bandits repent, surrender 14 AK47 in Zamfara

In continued efforts to secure Zamfara State from the lingering banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling under Peace Dialogue, seven armed bandits have repented and surrendered 14 AK47, large number of ammunition to Governor Bello Matawalle.
Taking oath of repentance at the Government House Gusau today (Thursday), the repentant bandits have both sworn they will never engage into any criminal activity especially that involved taking lives of innocent citizens, and or kidnapping and cattle rustling.
“We solemnly promised not to kill, kidnap and or engage in cattle rustling, involve in or support by words or actions, committing any act capable of putting fears into minds of innocent citizens in Zamfara State and even beyond.
“We collectively decided to surrender our weapons after strongly believing that the society will reaccept us as brothers whose aims were to continue to live legitimate lives like all other members of the society”, the repentant bandits have assured.
Receiving the repentant bandits and their surrendered firearms, Governor Matawalle, assured their security and hitch-free living and to equally enjoy all expected services being rendered by both the State and Federal Governments.
“As from today, you will be receiving equal treatments which comprised of social security, total considerations by laws of the country as that of other law abiding citizens, and my administration will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or group found stigmatizing your personalities or your family members”, Matawalle has warned.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Mohammed Dauran, informed that, more bandits have already communicated their interest to follow the suit, but waiting to ensure those already repented were not harmed.
“We discovered that, some bandits were not indigenes of Zamfara State but only were invited to reinforce the nasty activities in the State, and they also expressed their wishes to return to their respective States immediately after witnessing their repentance”, Dauran has stated.
