The All Progressive Congress, APC on Tuesday elected new state officials to pilot the affairs of the party in the next four years.
The Chairman Benue State APC Congress Committee, Dr Auwalu Ishiye and Secretary, Mr Tijani Abdullahi while conducting the exercise in Makurdi said the new officials were elected through voice affirmation.
They said all the 36 positions were elected by affirmation and thereafter administered oath of office on them.
Speaking further, Auwalu said the exercise was part of the party’s usual routine of promoting unity, discipline and internal democracy.
He commended Gov Hyacinth Alia for encouraging a peaceful congreses across the state, adding that party decisions are always supreme.
He said the congress was not only credible, fair and transparent but also commendable.
In his speech, Governor Hyacinth Alia commended Benue APC family for their peaceful and lawful conduct throughout the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses.
Alia said their behaviour would futher transcend into more development, economic growth and improved security.
He said his administration was determined to take the people into a new Benue.
He said all the congresses in the state were credible, seamless and transparent.
Speaking at the Congress, Sen Barnabas Gemade, Chairman Benue APC Elders Forum said past governor Moses Adasu and Alia have proven that only people of Benue North East can deliver good governance in the state.
Gemade said with time, the people of Benue south who are yet to have an opportunity of governing the state would have a chance to prove themselves in governance.
He stated that governor Alia has done well in the area of agriculture, commerce, security, youth empowerment among others.
In his goodwill message on behalf of Benue North West, Dr Hinga Biem, commended Alia for delivering good governance through construction of people oriented projects in about three years in office.
He assured that people of Zone B will stand with him come 2027 so as to continue with the good work he is doing so far.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Benjamin Omale, State APC Chairman said that the party is a home for all, and pledged to strengthen the party at the grassroots to get more support for Alia.
Omale urged people of the state to put aside their political difference and embrace peace and unity for the progress of all.
Our correspondent reports that the new Local Government party chairmen and secretaries were also sworn-in during the congress.
Some of the elected state officials are Mr Alphonsus Indyar, deputy chairman, Solomon Kachinah, Secretary; legal adviser Barr Terhemen Ngbea, Treasurer Smauel Imenger, and Organising Secretary James Ornguga among others.
