Benue state Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has promised to give honest and profitable amnesty to militia and other criminals in the state if elected governor.
He said the promise will be easier to fulfil if Bola Ahmed Tinubu is elected President, adding that he can vouch for the proactive and candour of the APC presidential flag bearer.
Fr. Alia who said this during his campaign tour of Katsina-Ala local government area on Monday, decried a situation where an amnesty was hurriedly arranged with by the present administration in the state just to achieve a cheap popularity.
He noted that unfortunately the programme failed to achieve its purpose as many criminals that would have been properly rehabilitated and reintegrated to be useful to the society had gone back to perpetrating societal ills.
It should be noted that Tor-donga, a surburb in Katsina-Ala and the neighbouring communities remain dreaded as hub of criminal activities even after the death of a criminal kingpin, Terwase Akwaza aka Gana who reigned supreme.
