The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC in Benue State deepened over the weekend as the primary to elect candidate for the bye-election into Guma 1 State House of Assembly was allegedly marred by irregularities.
Peoples’ Daily gathered that last Friday, there was heavy commotion at the party Secretariat located in Makurdi as loyaltists of Governor Alia and the party Executive clashed.
It took the swift intervention of soldiers and Policemen to quell the conflict.
Then on Saturday, it was learnt that the Prof.
Kabiru Ibrahim led committee from the National Secretariat of the APC assigned to conduct the primary, held it at Avine Agbom Hotel in Saudi, Guma local government where one Peter Terwase Uche Polled 25 votes to beat Maurice Orwough who got 3.
However, an eye witness who was at the venue of the primary and pleaded anonymity, said that there was heavy presence of security operatives including military, Police and Depatment of State Security, DSS.
