A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has said that the notion of a faction existing within the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), is a strategy by the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC)-led government to ensure the elimination of opposition.
Salihu made the statement on Wednesday while responding to questions in an interview on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television monitored in Abuja.
He was reacting to the crisis in the PDP.
“Well, the new INEC chairman told Nigerians that he is a man of impeccable character and disposition. This is the time to show that he is a man of impeccable, not impeachable character.
“I hope he is not carrying the baggage of the former chairman politically or administratively in INEC. The INEC that we knew in the times of Yakubu Mahmoud, I hope the tradition is not continuing.
“First and foremost, let’s be clear about it, I am not a member of the PDP, but then you look at the issues dispassionately, you look at the issues holistically, and you look at the laws.
“The idea of saying that there is even a faction in the PDP is a scheme. It is a scam. It is a strategy by the ruling APC-led government to make sure that they eliminate opposition,” he said.
