The Benue State House of Assembly has approved a new three year tenure for local government councils chairmen in the state.
The House took the decision during its plenary on Friday, which was presided over by the Speaker, Hon Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.
This, followed the amendment of the 2007 local government law and for purposes connected therewith.
The House in effecting the Local Government Principal Law, 2007 as amended noted, “by deletion of the words “two (2) years “ appearing immediately after the words”, expiration of the period of’ in Section 13(2) and 27(3) respectively; and the substitution therefore of the words “Three Years.”.
