Benue ex-Gov Suswam dumps PDP

A former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
This was contained in a letter dated February 4 and addressed to the Chairman of the Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of the state.
The former governor cited the unending internal crisis rocking the opposition party as the reason for his resignation.
Although Suswam failed to state the next political party he is aligning with, he has been identified with the coalition of the opposition leaders, who adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC as platform to contest the next election.
“I consider it honorable and necessary to step aside while wishing the party well should it one day find the courage and consensus to resolve its long-standing issues”, the letter added.
Speaking in an interview on Arise Television yesterday, monitored in Abuja, Morka stated that the recent wave of defections was a reflection of confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He was responding to concerns over the growing number of governors joining the APC, including the recent defection of the Kano State governor.
According to him, governors defecting to the ruling party were aligning themselves with what he described as a ‘resurging Nigeria’ under the Tinubu administration.
“What you see is governors who have decided to join our party to identify with this resurging Nigeria that this President is clearly positioning Nigeria to be,” he said.
The APC mouthpiece further said that the party welcomed new members and would not act as a barrier to politicians seeking to join the party.
