Former member, House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha, federal constituency, in Benue State, Herman Hembe, has secured the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Announcing result of the primary, Returning Officer for the ADC Governorship Election in the state, Victor Tukura said Hembe garnered 46,526 votes to defeat his closest rival Peter Idoko who polled 31,990 votes, while a veteran journalist, Joseph Waya got with 26,919 votes.

Tukura appreciated members of the party in the state for the peaceful conduct of the primary election.

Speaking to the media after his emergence, Hembe expressed satifaction at the outcome of the election, statting that the mandate is overwhelming and plesged not to disappoint party faithful

He said, “I want to promise the party members that I would not disappoint them”.

While reeling out his vision if elected in 2027, Hembe said, “I intend to bring peace to Benue communities. I intend to guarantee fiscal autonomy to our local governments and ensure transparency in the running of state affairs and remove all these lies that pervade our system.

“I also intend to remove the fights that have become a part of our system and to
organize governance that is beneficial to the people and not only to a few people who feel like they either made people or they are the reason why they are there who have continued to fight and neglect the people who they should actually be serving.”

Hembe accused the present government of failure to make any policy statement on the Anti-Open Grazing Law, alleging that it has abandoned the law and allowed communities to be terrorized by bandits and terrorists who have consistently killed the people.

He vowed to stop the killings and restore the land to the people who own them.
