At least four health workers have died of Lassa fever in Benue State, as suspected cases stand at 60
The State Commissioner for Health Dr Paul Ogwuche who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in his office on Monday, said report from their dashboard indicated that there are over 60 suspected cases.
He also said 11 cases have been confirmed out of which 4 health workers died and 3 patients on admission, maintaining that vigorous efforts through enlightenment and assistance from the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) are made to curtail the disease.
Dr Ogwuche further explained that all the 23 general hospitals in the State are manned by qualified medical doctors, decrying that brain drain syndrome has affected medical sector in the state.
“But since this administration came on board, alot of positive changes have been made especially in term of manpower development in our health facilities.
“The Teaching Hospital has undergone a lot of transformation accompanied by massive recruitment of workers. “
