The Nigeria Navy Service, NNS is to build a Naval Base in Makurdi,Benue State capital.
This was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Tersoo Kula after the second Executive Council meeting held at Government House.
Kula disclosed that the State Government approved the sum of N369.8m as compensation for the inhabitants for the 150 hectares of land approved for the Naval Base to be sited opposite Alfred Akawe Torkula Polytechnic to house a school, barrack and hospital.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order Barr. Fidelis Mnyim also, said aside the adequate compensation paid to he host community and demarcation done to avoid a repeat of incident between the Airforce and its host, government has taken steps to
resolve the incessant conflict between the Airforce and its host ommunitiy.
He explained that a committee has been set up and have reached advanced work to demarcate the land to avoid rancour while a road will be built on the boundary.
The CPS said government approved the sum of N30.2bn supplementary budget estimates.
Kula explained that the N30.2bn supplementary budget estimates was virement from the N179.7bn 2023 budget estimates earlier signed into law by the past administration.
According to him,the funds which was already listed for items in the signed 2023 budget estimates would be transferred to cover new items as approved by the EXCO.
The CPS also said the Council approved the sum of N9.2bn for the construction of 16 township roads within the State Capital.
