Benue State Government has imposed an indefinite curfew in Ukum local government area.
Governor Hyacinth Alia who announced the curfew in a press statement made available to newsmen by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication Mr. Solomon Iorpev on Wednesday, said the curfew takes effect from 3pm.
The governor explained that the curfew became necessary following the grave security situation in the region that has led to the wanton destruction of property, leading to instability of the area.
“The governor, through his deputy Dr. Sam Ode has therefore, directed that, the curfew shall be observed from 6pm to 6am beginning from 4th of July 2024 untill further notice.
“The governor has called for calm as security operatives have been deployed in their numbers to keep the peace in Ukum in particular and the Sankera region at large”, the statement read.
