United Nigeria Airlines Withdraws Aircraft After Bird Strike Incident

Date:

United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has announced a temporary disruption to some of its flight operations following a bird strike involving one of its CRJ-900 aircraft.

The airline disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chibuike Uloka.

According to Uloka, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening during the landing of Flight UN0579, which was en route from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

He explained that, in adherence to strict aviation safety standards, the affected aircraft has been withdrawn from service to undergo thorough technical inspections and necessary maintenance before returning to operation.

“As a result, some flights across our network may not operate as scheduled. However, safety remains our highest priority,” Uloka said.

The airline apologised to passengers for any inconvenience caused by the disruption, describing the development as unforeseen.

Uloka further revealed that the latest incident marks the fifth bird strike involving UNA aircraft since January. He noted that all previous occurrences were handled in full compliance with aviation safety regulations and established operational procedures.

He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards and operational reliability, assuring passengers that all necessary measures would continue to be taken to enhance service delivery.
