Benue killings: Arrest perpetrators now – Group tells FG

As condemnation continues trailing the recent reported killing of Fulani herdsmen in Gboko, Benue State a Socio-political organisation, GoodNews Nigeria has called on the Federal government to arrest the suspected perpetrators, and as it will help halt the menace.
A statement signed by the national coordinator Engr Dauda Mbaya and the director media and publicity Hon Matthew Bobai Victor, said the wanton killings and destruction of lives and properties demands that the government through security agencies should rise up and curtail the menace.
It reads:”The ongoing killings and destruction of lives and properties in different parts of Nigeria involving the herdsmen, farmers and ethnic groups has brought to mind the more reason security agencies should rise to the occasion and put an end to this mess.
“It is sad to hear of the killings where humans will stop a vehicle on transit pull out harmless passengers and kill them in cold blood.
“We insist that perpetrators of this dastardly act be brought to book as it will help to bring an end to this wickedness.”
The group further expressed worry over the erosion of the peace existed among Nigerians for reasons best known to those who perpetuate the dastardly act, even as it opined that the killings portray insensitivity on the part of government.
“This government has demonstrated again and again that it does not have the will nor indeed the capacity to protect human lives in Nigeria therefore,while the integrity of this nation is in a bad light before the international community,it’s high time Nigerians join Good News Nigeria to bring credible alternative that will safeguard our human dignity.
“The issue of insecurity and hardship in the country should be the priority of the ruling party and not re-election. We are in doubt of their patriotism.
“Giving the present security challenges, GoodNews Nigeria is committed and determined to accommodate interested individuals across Nigeria as a Force to liberate the country from those holding it to ransom.
“It is high time our security heads managed this crisis or they should resign, hence their in-abilities has failed us as a people.
“With over 4 million membership so far in our directory ,we are mobilising youths and women across the country to join us make our target of 15 million a reality before the 2019 presidential election.
“We are encouraging all citizens to boldly stand up for their beliefs about what’s best for our nation and to lay the best foundation necessary for the future; a “United Nigeria,”it stated.
