Nigeria Union of Journalists Benue State Council has condemned in strong terms a purported election of Sports Writers Association, SWAN held in Makurdi by unknown group of people.
It should be noted that recently certain persons conducted SWAN election at an undisclosed location in Makurdi where two(2) persons emerged as Chairman and Secretary respectively.
But the Council in a strong worded press release signed by its Secretary Moses Akarhan and made available to Peoplesdaily yesterday, distanced itself from what it described as a ‘sham’, affirming that it recognizes the interim leadership of the association led by Patrick Omora of Radio Benue, as chairman, Daniel Uza of Radio Nigeria Harvest FM Makurdi as Secretary and Uche Nnorom, Peoplesdaily as Treasurer.
The Council also, alerted unsuspecting members of the Public to disregard such group who are out to extort money from them for their personal gains.
“For avoidance of doubt, the Council has recognized Patrick Omora of Radio Benue Chapel as Chairman, Daniel Uza of Harvest FM as Secretary and Uche Nnorom of Peoolesdaily and Correspondents’ Chapel as Treasurer as interim leadership of SWAN in Benue State, pending the conduct of fresh elections coming up within this month.
