From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

The ecological projects under NEWMAP programme currently going on in Malumfashi and Funtua council areas of Katsina state has reached an advanced stage of completion.
Engineer Ashiru Mohammed, the NEWMAP Project Manager in the state confirmed this in an interview with newsmen yesterday in Katsina .
Mohammed said the Malumfashi project was awarded in June last year but it’s execution was delayed by two months owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, the contractor complied with the pandemic protocols in the execution of the ecological projects.
The NEWMAP Project Manager revealed that, the gigantic ecological works were being undertaking in Katsina, Malumfashi, Funtua and Jibia council areas to control flooding, adding that, the perimeter fences would be provided to ensure proper maintenance.
He added that, local monitoring committees have also been constituted in all the benefiting communities of the projects to ensure blockages and vandalization were checked.
