The paramount ruler of Tiv nation Tor Tiv Prof. James Ayatse has told Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Sen. George Akume that the commitment to reconciliation made before the traditional stool is ‘weighty’.
The Tor Tiv had invited both warring parties to his palace in Gboko, the traditional home of the Tiv nation for a reconciliation meeting on Sunday.
It would be recalled that Governor Alia and the SGF have engaged in battle of supremacy over the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Benue State.
During the meeting which lasted several hours and held behind closed doors, it was learnt that only few political gladiators like Sen. Barnabas Gemade who accompanied the Governor while former Minister for Justice Michael Aondoaka SAN and Sen. Jack Tilley Gyado came with the SGF.
An insider who pleaded anonymity said the revered monarch expressed displeasure at the two leaders of APC and their promoters over their utterances, statements and activities describing their acts as ‘immature’, maintaining that there were talks about the two (2) gladiators arming their followers to cause mayhem.
According to him, the Tor Tiv warned the Governor and SGF to desist from such acts which he noted is causing disunity in Tiv Nation at a time she needs peace the most.
The royal monarch also, admonished the Tiv politicians to note that they have only Benue State to call their own and must do everything possible to protect it from disintegration.
