Benue State Police Operatives at the weekend, foiled a kidnap attempt on the Bursar of Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Mr. Emmanuel Timothy and apprehended the suspects.
The suspect, Terwase Agbem Paul, popularly known as TAP, chairman and CEO TAP Group was arrested for allegedly masterminding the attempted attack before it was foiled.
Also arrested alongside, Mr Terwase, was his accomplice, Mr Mson Yaasa, both in their thirties.
Men of Operation Zenda led by its Commander, CSP Justine Gberindyer, raided their hideout at Halidays Hotel and resort in Ankpa Quarters Makurdi and arrested the suspects.
The suspects were alleged to specialize in organizing high profile kidnapping of politicians and wealthy personalities within Abuja and Makurdi and other states in Nigeria before they were arrested.
The kingpin One Paul Teresa’s Agbem AKA TAP 33 yrs of age who lives at plot 403 f” close 1st Avenue Gwarinpa Abuja, and Mson Yaasa, also 33yrs “M” who leaves opposite impression Hotel Mbaiwen Adikpo had planned with other members of the gang and concluded plans to kidnap the Bursar of University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Mr.Emmanuel Timothy who resides close to Hallidays Hotel for ransom.
The suspects during interrogation confessed voluntarily to the crime.
They said they were to carry out the kidnap plan on the same they were apprehended, adding that they had given the sum of one hundred thousand naira to some boys whom they contracted from Adikpo to carry out the plan after the key suspect, Mr. Terwase had taken them round and shown them the Bursars house, office and the vehicle he drives.
Meanwhile, the lead suspects and others are currently in custody helping with ongoing investigation.
