The Kano State Police Command has said that it has successfully arrested no fewer than 297 suspected criminals who are wrecking havoc in the state from April 10 to May 23.
In a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa yesterday, the suspects comprised of kidnappers, armed robbers, car thieves, fraudsters, thugs (‘Yan Daba) among others.
He said the operations had shown that the unwavering commitment to protecting lives and properties of citizenry is yielding positive results.
Kiyawa noted that the achievements were as a result of robust community policing engagements, intelligence-led and visibility policing, sustained synergy with sister security agencies, massive campaign against thuggery (Daba) and drug abuse (Kwaya).
The PPRO also noted that the breakthrough was full adherence to the ethics of the force in line with the directives of the g IGP, Usman Alkali Baba.
Kiyawa also disclosed that items had been recovered, such as dangerous weapons, motor Vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones, monies and Illicit drugs.
He said all the suspects would be charged to court once discreet investigations are completed as ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko.
While calling on the general public to continue supporting the command with credible information about suspected criminals, Kiyawa said the CP had vowed to deal with anybody that opted to cause insecurity in Kano state.
