Turkish side Besiktas have set their sights on Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski according to reports.
The 29 year old German international has struggled to retain a foothold in Arsenal’s starting eleven over the past 18 months and the arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck have further impinged on his chances of forging a meaningful career at the north London club.
Lack of regular action led to Podolski playing a limited role in Germany’s 2014 World Cup finals triumph and Arsene Wenger hasn’t handed the former Koln man a single Premier League start this season, this despite the fact that both Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud have been out for lengthy spells.
Podolski may well be considering his options and though clearly something of a fan favourite the Gunners forward will surely be open to a move away in January if there isn’t a significant change in Wenger’s policy towards him and his prominence in Arsenal’s plans.
