The Board Members of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) yesterday removed their President, Timothy Nsirim, for alleged acts of administrative ineptitude and financial recklessness.

The board members also said that Nsirim lacked transparency and adopted an autocratic style of leadership as well lacked respect for members and was inaccessible.

Nsirim was sacked at a board meeting held at the National Stadium, Lagos where seven of the 11-member board agreed to remove him.

The meeting which reviewed the activities of the board under Nsirim said the former president did not meet International Judo Swiss Law.

The law states that the president of national judo federations must be a judoka of at least “First Dan Grade’’.

Nsirim was elected at the Nigeria Sports Federations’ election held in Abuja in 2013 and would have served out his tenure in 2016.

The board members also elected Musa Oshodi as the federation’s new president and he will complete the tenure of the former president.

Also elected with Oshodi was Sulaimon Damita who took over as the Vice-President of the federation.

Oshodi said that the new leadership would place emphasis on developmental programmes and training of technical officials.
