FCT Secondary Education Board has implored principals of the sixty two senior secondary schools under its management to remain committed and focus in the effective discharge of their duties, in order to achieve all round academic success.
Accordingly, the Board informed the principals of the steps already put in place to reduce and control the school congestion during admission and warn that, it should be complied with to avoid further challenges encountered in such .
The Board led by the Chairman, Musa Yahaya Muhammed gave this advice during the joint meeting of the management of the constituted Board and the school heads for the new academic session resumption brief.
Muhammed opined that the new academic session should be a way to strategize to enhanced the teaching and learning process while sustaining the quality of the structure already put in place.
He reiterated that it is expedient for the school heads to do the needful and right things for holistic education in FCT adding that, a lot is expected from them as they resume and not to take their work for granted adding that,no stone should be left unturned.
Urging them to be vigilant of their environment and pay adequate attention to what is happening around them, reminding them of the recent tremor experienced in some parts of FCT, the Board chairman advised concrete steps be taken to avoid unforseen incident, keeping in mind that,they have been entrusted with school age children.
He warned against been an arm chair principals, as no part of Schools with perimeter fence should be left without daily supervision by the school heads.
He added that the school principals should take the welfare and care of students under their custody as a priority and put fruitful efforts in place to ensure their safety at all times.
The Chairman reminded them of the need to take the advantage of information and communication technology at their disposal to continue to enhance their day to day school administration of the school reiterating the Board’s commitment towards the school management system to effectively monitor their students and happenings within the school.
He urged them to inculcate the right morals in the students especially as it relates to their eating habits which he emphasised must also be at the dinning for the boarding schools.
Similarly, Board member II, Sani Yakubu, stressed that the educational system is very important and every hands must be on deck to ensure it’s success.
He added that the school uniform, textbooks and other instructional materials should be thoroughly checked and up to date.
In her remarks, the Ag. Director, Mrs Nanre Emeje, said the new academic session comes with high expectations to deliver good results hence the need to continue to remould the child for a brighter future.
She reiterated that the FCT Administration is not relenting in their efforts to ensure the welfare and concerns of staff are attended to ,for the expected productivity.
However, responding, the vice president of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools(ANCOPSS), Hajia Binta Nasir, thanked the Board for its various input in ensuring the school system work effectively and efficiently.
She assured that the principals will not relent in complying to rules and regulations guiding their work and not shift their core responsibilities to other staff.
The ANCOPSS scribe, who spoke on behalf of the principals therefore appealed for the Board’s continue support in creating a conducive academic environment for the students and teachers.
