A women group, Noble Women Movement for Buhari and Osinbajo, (NWM4BO) has paused its planned one million march across the streets of Abuja, in solidarity for President Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
In a statement issued yesterday by its Director of Publicity, Dr. Rachael Ahmadu, the women group said the postponement became necessary in view of the fact that all the political parties have not concluded their primaries.
It could be recalled that the group had earlier concluded plans to stage the one million march, scheduled to hold on September 15, 2018 at Eagle Square Abuja.
Dr. Ahmadu stressed that the group want to evaluate the strength and character of candidates of various political parties before coming up with a strong statement, stressing that the plan one million march will be the climax of the women support group.
“We rescheduled the planned one million march for two obvious reasons. First, we want all the political parties to conclude their primaries and present their candidates to Nigerians.
“This will enable us as a group to evaluate individual candidate on the strength of character, honestly and dedication to deliver. We don’t want to underestimate any political party in this contest.
“Secondly, most of our members especially women are involved in grassroots politics in this auspices time of ongoing campaigns. We therefore felt that it will be politically incorrect to embark on this laudable project without the presence of some of our political heavyweights,” Dr. Ahmadu stated.
