Boko Haram: Don’t flee, Shettima urges Bama community

Governor Kashim of Borno state yesterday pleaded with community of Bama local government area of the state to be courageous and not flee their homes following the last week insurgency attacks which left 80 persons dead.

Shettima made the plea while addressing community leaders at the palace of the Emir of Bama, shortly after inspecting various public and residential buildings burnt during the attacks.

The governor who said he was seriously shocked by the high level of destructions and lost of human lives caused by the carnage, urged the residents to consider the incident as an act of God and stay in the area.

As parts of efforts to ameliorate the sufferings of the surviving victims, the governor announced a cash donation of N250, 000 for each household that lost an individual and promised to rebuild and rehabilitate all public structures and houses destroyed by the Boko Haram.

Besides theN200,000 million already earmarked for the purchase of relief materials for the victims, he equally directed the release of additional N100 million.

The governor also donated N3 million and three TATA patrol vehicles for the three vigilante groups complementing the security forces in the fight against insurgents in the local government council.

While reiterating government determination to safeguard lives and properties of the citizens, Shettima added that his administration would leave no stone unturned in addressing the major factors contributing to the birth of Boko Haram.
