Boroffice, Ondo APC trade words over party congresses

The Senator representing Ondo North in the Senate, Ajayi Boroffice, has accused the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to manipulate the forthcoming state congress of the party.
The senator who has been having disagreement with the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, alleged that the state executive of the party had been informing members of the party in the state that there would be no election to fill the vacant positions at the wards, local government, state executive committees of the party.
Boroffice, in a statement issued by his media aide, Kayode Fakuyi, on Tuesday said the executive was planning to select their anointed candidates to the vacant positions at the expense of other members.
He declared that there must be elections at the forthcoming congresses, adding that the constitution of the party must be strictly adhered to. The federal lawmaker also alleged that the state executive was planning to discourage some members from taking part in the congresses.
The statement read in part, “Senator Boroffice believes the divisive campaign is fueled by undemocratic forces in the garb of progressives and the main target is to deter and discourage teeming members of our great party, APC from effectively participating in the elective congresses at the ward, local government and state levels.
“The undemocratic plot to prevent members from voting is not in the best interest of our party. It is also not in line with democratic practices and due process. As a matter of law, it is unknown to extant provisions APC Constitution. It will not happen in Ondo State, God willing. “
