Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, delivered an insightful lecture on the lasting impact of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership.
He characterized Buhari’s administration as one that laid the structural foundation for national development across various sectors of governance.
Mustapha made these remarks during the public presentation of the book *According to the President*, authored by presidential aide Garba Shehu, which took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
Speaking on the theme “President Muhammadu Buhari’s Contribution to National Development,” Mustapha reflected on the evolution of Buhari’s leadership journey, from military service and petroleum sector reforms to his emergence as a two-term democratic president. He emphasized that Buhari’s legacy was not limited to high-profile achievements but included setting institutions and systems on a new path toward resilient governance.
“President Buhari governed with duty rather than drama. He was driven by principles, not applause,” Mustapha remarked.
He highlighted several major policy interventions from Buhari’s administration, including the Petroleum Industry Act, extensive infrastructure rollout, aggressive military retooling, and the establishment of social welfare programs like the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).
Mustapha also credited Buhari with advancing reforms in agriculture, power, education, and the digital economy. He noted that these accomplishments were part of a broader framework of reform and inclusive development rather than isolated efforts.
