President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar.
The President also nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic strategy and aligning foreign policy with economic priorities.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a seasoned diplomat and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, is expected to lead Nigeria’s international engagements with a focus on economic diplomacy, regional stability, and global partnerships.
The presidency said her appointment reflects confidence in her decades of experience and deep understanding of Nigeria’s foreign relations.
Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat with postings across major global capitals, is expected to support continuity and advance Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy objectives.
President Tinubu congratulated both appointees, urging them to prioritise national interest, boost economic diplomacy, and improve the welfare of Nigerians abroad.
