Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government, extending congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He further urged citizens to remain committed to values of tolerance and unity that strengthen national cohesion.

Tunji-Ojo reiterated the government’s commitment to policies aimed at fostering national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all citizens.

He also wished Christians across the country a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
