From Government House corridors to bustling markets and grassroots communities, chants of celebration rang out as Governor Uba Sani was crowned Governor of the Year 2025 by the Leadership Media Group in a moment supporters are calling “historic and richly deserved.”
The thunderous recognition, delivered at the iconic Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, is the latest in a string of major national honours — including recent accolades from THISDAY Newspapers — cementing what many now describe as Kaduna’s most decisive reform era in years.
“This was not a routine award ceremony. It was a national spotlight moment”, said Dr. Umar Mohammed, a Communications expert.
Observers say the honour reflects a leadership style anchored on calm resolve, bold reforms, and measurable outcomes. From recalibrating security strategy through dialogue-driven engagement, to repositioning agriculture as an economic backbone, to launching over 1,300 kilometres of road projects that are reconnecting forgotten communities — the transformation has been both structural and symbolic.
Across Kaduna, supporters described the award as a victory for the people.
“For civil servants, it is validation of tireless implementation. For rural farmers, it is proof that their sector is no longer neglected. For youths and women empowered under inclusive policies, it is recognition that governance is finally widening its doors”, argued Kahdija Mohammed of the Uba Sani Back2Back Movement.
Political analysts say the back-to-back national recognition signals something deeper: Kaduna’s governance trajectory is no longer local news — it is becoming a national reference point.
In his acceptance remarks, Governor Sani dedicated the award to the resilient people of Kaduna State, reinforcing what aides describe as his signature leadership philosophy — collective ownership of progress.
Thursday’s jubilation was loud, emotional, and unmistakable.
“And if the reactions pouring in are anything to go by, this latest honour is not merely a trophy — it is a statement”, said Habeeb Bello Chikaji, the Chairman of Uba Sani Legacy Projects Solidarity Assembly(USLEPSA) while answering questions from newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday night.
