Breaking: Like Fubara, Adeleke dumps PDP, announces new party

Date:

Osun State Governor,Ademola Adeleke, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party and pitched his tent with the Accord Party, where he plans to seek re-election in 2026.
Adeleke made the announcement on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, where top national and state leaders of Accord formally received him into the party.

According to him, he actually joined the party quietly on November 6 after holding consultations with political leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders across the state.

“We intend to pursue a second term in office on the platform of the Accord Party to complete the ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends,” he said, explaining that the party’s welfarist ideology aligns with his administration’s focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.

He also applauded Accord’s “people-first” approach and welcomed party officials into the Government House, saying they were now part of the governance structure in Osun.

Adeleke expressed confidence that the people of Osun, who supported him in 2022, would again stand behind him in the next election. “From Osun West to Osun East to Osun Central, this is our new platform for victory,” he declared, urging supporters across communities to identify with the Thumb Up Party.

He ended by formally declaring his new political direction: “In accordance with the will of stakeholders and the wishes of the Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party.”
