Few days after performing the groundbreaking ceremony for Solar-Powered Street Lights and Vocational Skills Acquisition Centre, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has again flagged off the construction of 18 kilometre Sanga–Jema’a road project.
The project is designed to link Gwantu, headquarters of Sanga with Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.
Inaugurating the project, the governor said the Sanga – Jema’a road is one of the rural transformation projects aimed at revitalising the rural economy and bridging the developmental gap between the rural and urban areas.
Recall, Uba Sani had on Thursday met with the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun and endorsed a collaboration between the Kaduna State and the Federal Government to address the problem of out-of-school children, tackle poverty and unemployment, boost agriculture, revitalize the rural economies, and wage sustained battle against insecurity.
“The road which is linking two major local government areas in the Southern part of Kaduna, through Kiban to Godogodo, is entirely new road designed to reduce travel time between the two LGAs, whose existing road through Fadan Karshi – Gidan Waya is 62 kilometers,” he said.
Sani reiterated his administration’s commitment to fulfil campaign promises, especially on rural development through massive infrastructure upgrade.
He said the road would facilitate movement of people and ease transportation of agricultural produce to the markets.
This, he said, would also reduce post-harvest losses, encourage agricultural productivity, facilitate access to education and healthcare facilities as well as reduce poverty and improve the living standard of the people.
In his remarks, Mr Ibrahim Hamza, the Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, said the project was in fulfillment of the governor’s promise to improve the lives and fortunes of rural dwellers.
The commissioner said the governor was committed to infrastructural development, hence the groundbreaking ceremony of this road project.
