As it enters 79 days since the abduction of more than 200 Chibok school girls, in Chibok local government area of Borno state, the #BringBackOurGirls campaign group, otherwise known as Abuja Family, yesterday vowed to continue with its sit-out meeting at the Unity Fountain, in Abuja, until the girls are rescued alive.
The group, which made this known during its 63-day meeting yesterday, vowed to maintain their grounds, in order to make sure the abducted girls returned alive.
One of the coordinators of group Mr. Dauda Iliya said the resolution of the sit-out is to make sure that there will be result from the rescue operations, to ensure the girls are brought backs alive , adding that they want nothing but the truth about efforts in the that direction
“We are not shaking by any treat whatsoever, as we have imbibe the spirit of consistency in our agitation until the girls are back alive,” he stressed.
It would recalled that according the Borno government officials, more than 200 girls were kidnapped from the Chibok School, since mid-April, but only fifty-seven escaped, and are now free from their abductors.
Since the incident, a lot of the group’s campaigns have been directed towards the government for failing to promptly rescue the girls, who were kidnapped by the dreaded Boko haram, in Chibok, near the Cameroon border, on April 14.
Peoples Daily reports that the protest, though popular among several citizens, has been a source of worry for the federal government, with the Minister of Information, some key government official saying that the protesters were sponsored by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
