The Bucks 4-a-side team of Shallangwu, Tobi, Jerry and Taiye winning all of its five matches to emerged champions of the maiden Minnie Wright Basketball For Peace (BB4P) five-aside Basketball Competition.
In a statement by the Programme Manager coach Oliver B. Johnson, made available to newsmen on Saturday said the competition was held at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
“They came first from the six teams in the round-robin competition, they also won the 1st Place BB4P Tee-SHIRTS while every player was compensated with the usual BBC token stipend based on their win or lose record,” it stated.
According to the statement, dream team finished as runners-up while young stars placed third.
It informed that raptors finished on the fourth spot, while diamonds were fifth, leaving NAUGHTY BOYS to settle for the sixth position.
“Minnie Wright is recognizing by BB4P as the main individual that helped BB4P to become a reality in the reduction of negative conflict among youth and Communities experiencing violent conflicts.
“BB4P has as of today has established more than 50 peace zones (ball courts) in 16 states (30 plus LGA’s) impacting the lives of more than 5000 Youth to go to school, stay in school and imbibe Peaceful means to solving conflicts.
“The peace zones have produce many ‘grassroots’ Basketball Players/Teams and form many peace clubs where boys and girls have done many school and community self improvement activities,” it stressed.
It would be recalled that Minnie Wright died on June 21, 2018.
