The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has matriculated a total number of 58 students in Gwagwalada study centre which comprises of Prisons, Customs and Immigration on Saturday.
In an address at the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, who was represented by a centre Director, Mrs. Roseline K. Ubochi, said the authorities of the university were committed to carry the university education to every nook and cranny of the nation.
He said: “We have continued to push forward with the development of academic infrastructures in the university in the area of adequate staff, office accommodation, well equipped library and Management Information System” (MIS).
According to the Vice-chancellor, we have subjected all our academic programmes to the National Universities Commission (NUC) for accreditation, pointing out that all the courses submitted to the NUC came out victoriously.
He told the matriculating students that character development was an integral part of the education which they had signed up in order to e received as the members of the students in the institution.
This, according to Abdalla Uba Adamu, at the end of the students’ studies in the next four years, we are going to certify the students in character and learning.
He said for the students to be qualified as such, they must be seen by their peers as well the officials of the University to have lived above board.
Uba Adamu, however, advised the fresh students to shun all forms of social vices, while warning against examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, matriculation of NOUN was cut across 78 study centres in Nigeria.
