President Muhammadu Buhari in company of his Niger Republic counterpart, Mohammed Bazoum will on Friday visit Zamfara State to flag off the 37th annual Quranic competition organised by Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.
This was disclosed in a press conference by the Chairman of the publicity committee, Comrade Zailani Baffa, saying, the main national organising committee has approved the request for Zamfara State to host the 2022 national competition.
According to Zailani, the committee has planned to witness the presence of Nigerian and Nigerien Presidents as the Special guests of honour while Professor Babagana Umara Zullum has been appointed as the Chairman of the occasion, saying, “The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Amin El-Kanemi will serve as the Royal father of the day while Governor Bello Matawalle remains the Chief host”.
He said this is another opportunity for the Zamfara State Government and good people of the state to prove its lead as number one Sharia State in Nigeria, adding that, the administration of Bello Matawalle is yet taking another bold step to serve the holy quran meritoriously.
“The present administration of Bello Mohammed Matawalle has done a lot in ensuring that our people live a clean way of life as enshrined in the Islamic code. One of the major achievements in this regard is the fierce fight against unscrupulous and wayward elements who chose to desecrate the Holy Quran, including dumping it in pit latrines for obviously occultic purposes”.
Meanwhile, Zailani further informed that, the competition will be in six categories and only young men and women of 25 years and below are eligible to participate, “Winners of two out of these six categories will participate in the annual King Abdulazeez Quranic Recitation competition to be held in Saudi Arabia.
