The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Yusuf Buratai, on Saturday launched rehabilitation of Dam and construction of new water treatment plant at 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Barracks, Jos.
According to General Buratai, water has been identified as a major challenge of the barracks and needed quick intervention to improve the health and hygiene of the barracks and its environments.
General Buratai said the project which has the capacity to produce one million litter of water per day when completed, would serve both army personnel within the barracks and residents around Rukuba area.
General Buratai who was represented by Major General John Malu, Commander of Corps Engineering of the Nigerian Army, said the approval of the project came following a request by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Nuhu Angbazo, who saw the need to rehabilitate the collapsed dam and construct a new water treatment plant for the barracks.
“The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Nuhu Angbazo, having identified water as a major challenge for Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, he decided to rehabilitate the collapsed dam and construct new water treatment plant.

The Chief of Army Staff has given approval for the project. It is expected that when the project is completed it will provide one million litter of water per day”, Buratai said.
