The Butchers Association in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Council, Jigawa, has called on the council to provide modern preservation facilities to check wastage of beef.
They also demanded the construction of slaughter slabs at Jabo and Ruba communities.
Malam Musa Kure, the Chairman of the association, made the call when his members paid a courtesy visit to the chairman of the council, Alhaji Bako Tamballe, yesterday in Kafin-Hausa.
“We need modern cold store in Kafin-Hausa town to preserve meat,’’ Kure said, adding that the lack of such facilities was exposing them to losses.
He said that the provision of slaughter slabs would also ensure the supply of hygienic meat and enhance public health.
In his speech, Tamballe said that the council had made provision in the 2014 budget for the construction of slaughter slabs at Jabo and Ruba communities.
The council chairman said that the council would provide sound policies and programmes to improve the social and economic well-being of the people. (NAN).
