Bwari council boss reiterates call for collective resolve against insurgency

The Chairman of the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Peter Yohanna Ushafa, has reiterated the call for collective resolve of stakeholders towards checking the insurgency currently ravaging some parts of the country, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.

Speaking to newsmen, when the FCT chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) flagged off its Presidential and National Assembly campaign, in Abuja, Ushafa stressed that fighting the terrorists should not be left in the hand of the presidency alone but that all the stakeholders should have roles to play.

“We must not all be in the presidency before we fight the terrorists or other criminal activities, we can do our part by cooperating with the those in the presidency, security agents, the local vigilantes to check the menace,’’ he said.

Ushafa, who is also the chairman of the media and publicity committee of the party in FCT, said the party will campaign in all the nooks and crannies of the FCT to ensure total victory for the party’s candidates in the territory.

‘’We are going to all the communities to showcase our achievements from the federal, FCTA down to the area councils to the people and use such achievements to sell the party’s candidates to the electorates,’’ the chairman added.

He pleaded with the people of the territory to continue to be law abiding and be tolerant of their neighbours in the interest of peace.

Meanwhile, addressing the party supporters at the Abuja old parade ground, the venue of the event, the leader of the party and FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the opposition All Progress Party (APC) as a dead party in the territory.

He said the present administration has done more to develop Abuja city centre and its satellite towns, saying the Abuja master plan is being maintain in line with the transformation agenda of President GoodLuck Jonathan.

The minister said FCT traditional institute will be accorded more attention, adding that the crisis rocking the Kwali traditional stool would soon be settled.

Earlier, the FCT chairman of the party, Alhaji Y. Y. Suleiman, said the party would emerge victorious during the poll because of the various developmental projects provided in the territory by the PDP-led administration.

Also speaking, the senator representing FCT in the National Assembly, Philip Aduda, who is seeking re-election, said all the elected representatives from the territory would continue to discharge their responsibilities to make life meaningful to the residents of the territory.

However, highpoint of the event was reception of some decamppees from other opposition parties, with many of them from the APC, into the PDP.

Peoples Daily reports that the flag-off was attended by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Abubakar Mustapha who represented the PDP national chairman, FCT minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, Minister of Water Resources, Serah Ochepe, former FCT Minister, Abba Gana and Wife of the FCT Minister, Aisha Bala Mohmmed.
