Ahead of up-coming general elections in February, 2019, an umbrella body of Ndigbo in Bwari Area Council (BAC), Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Association of Igbo Residents in the area council has advised candidates to go into contest with the fear of God.
During its recent meeting in Ignobis Hotel in Kubwa, a satellite town in BAC, candidates from different political parties came to woo the members of the association for support.
Welcoming them, the chairman of the association, Ichie Uchendu Okpalaezinne commended them for coming out to give selfless service to the people and advised them to go about politics with fear of God, devoid of rancour or acrimony. Okpalaezinne also advised them not to see political contest as do or die affairs.
He said a good politician, who has the interest of his people at heart shouldn’t see his opponent as an enemy, even as he added that one’s political opponent could be his political friend tomorrow. Ezeigbo of Kubwa, HRH OJC Anyanwu in a remark similarly urged them to seek for the face of God their contest, which if done, according to him would go a long way. Anyanwu therefore said leadership comes from God, even as he added that no one goes into contest to loose, but to win. He therefore spoke at length on the need for any contestant who happen to lose the election to accept it in good faith and support the winner in order to achieve a common goal.
Each of the candidates unfolded his plans as they affect moving Abuja, its indigenes and residents to the next level.
Those who visited the association for the sake of campaign were Peoples Trust chairmanship candidate in Bwari Area Council, Hon Mohammed Haruna, his counterpart for AMAC/Bwari federal constituency, Hon Ahmed John Danjuma; Labour Party candidate for AMAC/Bwari Area Council, Prince Kennedy C. Ahanotu; African Democratic Congress (ADC) AMAC/Bwari constituency, Him Steve Nkem Lafia, among others.
