The school proprietress spoke to some journalists in her office in Abuja.
Among what she enumerated as discouragement to the private schools which she appealed to the government to address were multiple taxation, saying that they pay tax for almost everything in the school; unwillingness of the government to give incentives to private schools. She said in the developed nations of the world, the government include the private schools in their annual budgetary allocation and; unwillingness of the government to open a special bank for soft or even free loan for private schools. The proprietress informed that the interests they pay for loan from commercial banks were alarming, saying that after paying for the loan and interests, they end up going home with little or nothing at the end of the term.
Appealing to the government to as a matter of urgency and importance give the private schools their deserved encouragement, Mrs Ugwunna Comfort said the private schools provide schools where government have none. She added that the private schools ensure that they impart to the children qualitative education at affordable fees.
