Bye-election: INEC clears four for Nasarawa North Senate contest

The race for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat has officially narrowed to four contenders following the publication of the final list of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the electoral body, four political parties successfully scaled the nomination process and will participate in the June 20, 2026, by-election to fill the vacant seat in the Senate.
The approved candidates are Halilu Onda Enyulu-Anza of the APC, Labaran Maku of the Labour Party, John Paul Aaraneshi of the NNPP, and Emmanuel David Ombugadu of the PDP.
The release of the final list marks a significant milestone in the electoral timetable and effectively sets the stage for intensified political activities across the district’s three local government areas, including Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon.
Peoples Daily reports that with just days to the poll, parties are expected to ramp up voter outreach efforts as candidates make their final push for support in what is shaping up to be a closely watched contest.
INEC has repeatedly pledged to deliver a transparent and credible election, assuring stakeholders that all necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure a smooth voting process on June 20
