Bafana Bafana will shock the football world with a great run in the Afcon, according to Cameroon’s Volker Finke.
The team’s recent displays under Shakes Mashaba have convinced the coach that the South Africans will be a surprise package despite being the lowest ranked nation in Group C.
The German gaffer hailed South Africa after their recent friendly international played last week at the Libreville Stadium in Gabon, where the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
“Yes, South Africa is in a tough group but they are doing well,” said Finke.
“While preparing for our match against them, I watched tapes of their last two games, the 2-1 win over Sudan and the 2-2 draw against Nigeria. I can tell you many teams are in for a surprise against South Africa.
“They look like they can get into the second round that is very possible.”
Bafana Bafana have their final preparation match against Mali on Wednesday, before heading to Equatorial Guinea where they will play their first fixture on Monday, January 19, against number one ranked Algeria
