From Ayodele Samuel, Lagos.
The United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy, (UNDEDSS) yesterday warned that troops stationed to fight terrorism in affected northern states must not be withdrawn following the ceasefire deal with Boko Haram insurgents.
Speaking with Newsmen in Lagos, UNDEDSS Secretary-General, Mr. Tony Uranta, urged the Nigerian Military not to prejudice the ceasefire talks with the Boko Haram Sect on the release of its members in jail.
“Every Nigerian is happy to hear that there seems to be a beginning to an end to the conflicts plaguing us, especially in the North East, by Boko Haram with the ceasefire talks.
“We cannot foreclose an opportunity for peace. However, they are welcome if they come to the negotiating table unconditionally.
“Nigeria must be careful. The UNDEDSS had earlier this year said that Nigeria cannot negotiate with faceless people in order to give them amnesty but we put a caveat, that we know the Boko Haram will not accept amnesty or accept peace. The terrorists must come forward if there is any sincerity in their ceasefire claims.
“We, as a group, do not believe that there is any sincerity in the words of the sect when it comes to peace.
“The Boko Haram sect in Nigeria is flying the same flag as the ISIS in the Middle East, Iraq and Syria. The same policy of inhumane murderous mass killings carnage that ISIS is carrying out in Iraq and Syria is the same that the Boko Haram is carrying out in Nigeria and Cameroons” Uranta said.
He said that the agenda of the sect, like all terrorist organisation, was World domination.
According to him, in negotiating with the sect, the Federal government must not forget that horrendous crimes have been committed and so many lives lost.
“We have had a total breakdown of law and order in more than seven states in the North.
“The Arewa leaders in the South-West have revealed that they had helped Police to arrest over 100,000. Boko Haram members infiltrating the South-West, Boko Haram members have been arrested in the South-East and South-South. These people have constituted themselves into a nuisance to the unity of Nigeria”, he said.
