Chibok: FG playing lip service over rescue of girls – Uwais

boko-kidnap-School-Chibok-girlsThe #BringBackOurGirls group has accused the federal government of playing lip service over the rescue of the abducted Chibok school girls.

The group has also expressed its willingness to continue its campaign until the federal government rescue the girls.

In a statement issued on behalf of the group, by Mrs. Mariam Uwais, it stated that it has been over 79 days since the girls were abducted and that the government continues to pay lip service.

“We will not relent because of our fears, given the frightening silence from the government on the rescue operation; we have noted that there is slow and non-progress on the report “.

Uwais said “It has been in our position, in the #BringBackOurGirls movement, that the responsibility for this rescue rest is with the government and our security agencies. For the past six weeks, there is no substantive communication on the issues from the federal government or the presidency. The Nigeria people need and expect credible information from the government”.

According to her, “There has been escalation of persistent attacks on Nigerians with more mass killing, more abduction and destruction of property in Chibok, surroundings and in the villages as well as other places in the country.

She said that the profound sense of sadness about the Chibok issue needs urgent result; our single purpose is to making sure that the girls are back free and alive.

“We are not sponsored by any group; our focus is just to make sure the girls are safe and the federal government gives us good result from their findings “, she noted.

The movement urged the federal government to carry out an accurate assessment of the effectives of the on-going operation and more communication of the progress by the federal government.
