Chief Medical Director bemoans activities of health maintenance organizations

Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Center, Makurdi Mr. Peteru Inunduh has frowned at activities of Health Maintenance Organizations, HMOs for failing to provide services to hospitals.
Dr. Inunduh decried the situation during an award ceremony by Coalition of Civil Societies and Journalists as well as Tiv Youth Council held at the center.
The CMD who decried that the HMOs are owing the hospital over 120 million naira under the Nigeria Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, regretted that they have continued to constitute a stumbling block in hospital administration in the country.
“The Federal Government should look into the activities of the Health Maintenance organizations as they have constituted a major challenge in health delivery in the country”, he said.
Dr. Inunduh also, lamented over inadequate funding by government because of competiting interests, adding too, poor public power supply as well as herdsmen/farmers crisis has made it almost impossible to take health to doorsteps of the people.
He intimated that the center has executed 32 projects, disclosing that 15 projects will be commissioned soon.
Coordinator, Coalition of Civil Societies and Journalists Shima Akuka and his Tiv Youth Council counterpart all hailed the reappointment of Dr. Inunduh for another term in office.
They noted that he has elevated the center through prudent management of resources and urged him to work harder to justice the reappointment.
