Children’s Day: Nigerians to dress in red for Chibok girls

As the world marks International Children’s day, Nigerians have been enjoined to dress in red, as sign of empathy for the pains of the girls abducted last month in Chibok community, Maiduguri State.

The girls who were kidnapped from their burden secondary school on the 14th of April this year have been held by their captures, the Boko Haram terrorists group for over a month.

Since the abduction of over 200 girls by the group, a number of rallies have been held to reiterate the need for government to ensure the safe return of all the girls.

The group which abhors western education had insisted that the federal government swap the girls with its men held in the government’s custody.

The leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan has received support from national and international bodies to facilitate the successful return of these girls

However a recent attempt to swap some of the girls with Boko Haram members was called off by the Federal government for reasons yet unclear.
