Chubuike hits target in Turkey

Date:

Nigerian striker, John Chibuike scored his first league goal of the season in Turkey on Saturday as Gaziantepspor lost 2-4 to Kasimpasa on match day five of the Süper Lig. Chibuike did not start the game but only came on as a second half substitute in place of teammate, Mustafa Durak.

He took little time to assert himself though and smacked home his debut goal for the just 10 minutes after being thrown into the fray. Chibuike was not the only Nigerian who featured in the rip-roaring contest at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadyumu as compatriot, Gbenga Arokoyo played the entire first half.

Arokoyo, who has played all five of Gaziantepspor’s league games this season, is however yet to get off the mark for the club he joined from Swedish club, Mjällby in the summer. The 21-year-old defender scored three league goals from his withdrawn position for Mjällby last season.
