Arsenal have reportedly reach an agreed with Real Madrid midfielder, Sami Khedira over personal terms ahead of a January move to the Emirates Stadium. The 27 year old World Cup winner is out of contract at the end of the season and his Bernabeu employers are keen to avoid losing the tough tackler on a free transfer and are looking to cash-in on his services in January.
Chelsea had also been pursuing the former Stuttgart man, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho keen to reunite with his former Real Madrid charge, but it appears Arsenal are leading the chase. Khedira would offer Arsenal some much needed steel in the middle of the park and is arguably a stronger option in the role than the likes of Spanish veteran Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini.
Arsene Wenger is known for being frugal in the transfer market, with some recent exceptions, and the chance to bring in a player of Khedira’s calibre ‘on the cheap’ would appear to greatly interest in the Arsenal boss.
