Civil servants, appointees to contribute to victim of Katsina fire disaster

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has disclosed that the state civil servants and political appointees will contribute to the victims of Katsina Central market fire disaster.
Masari made the disclosure yesterday while receiving the report of a committee set-up on the Katsina Central market fire disaster.
He noted that since they consumed about 80 per cent of the state resources there was need for them to contribute to the victims of disaster.
Similarly, Masari noted that a white paper committee will be set-up by the government to come up with a resolution on the report submitted by the committee.
According to him, with the series of disaster plaguing the state there was the need for people to repent and seek for God’s forgiveness.
Earlier submitting the report, the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Tasi’u Dahiru Dandagoro has lamented on the distortion of the original master plan of the market.
He added that the market lacks functional fire fighting equipments,no boreholes or overhead tanks and violation of electrical connections.
Dandagoro similarly said that the committee had identified 685 victims,605 shops, 59 attached shops and 25 affected by vandals.
He also submitted a number of proposal to the governor on how to rehabilitate the market.
